Oracle Customer Day November 18, 2009

It has been a year since I last went for Oracle Customer Day seminar which I still remember the last time I went was in the Dorsett Hotel. This year the event is organized at Traders Hotels – Shangri-La at Komtar.
I fetched Chan HH and Ong LK there and reaches at about 8:20am. Chua CK was already there. After registered ourselves, we were treat with light breakfast while waiting for other registered participant to come. It’s as usual, the Malaysian time so most of them are basically late. We started our seminar slightly late as the result but the presenter was doing well trying to keep it within the time frame.
Ok, it’s a nice seminar which introduce the Oracle 11g database with it’s features compare to the previous version. They also offer a number of other product that helps to improve the lead time of database query and process. Also was introduce was the new My Oracle Support which was the replacement for Metalink. It’s kind of interesting as it was not the same as last year apart from just some minor item.
After the seminar, I went over to On-Cost to collect Adrian stuff as well as my own. I ask them how long would it take to fix the side step and they told me it would be approx. of 30 minutes. I ask Chan HH and Ong LK to spare me the time to fix it … so they went to the nearby market to help themselves while I get my side step fix.
Finally it’s done … after about 45 minutes but never mind la, it’s a nice item too. This week I’ve got my ride two nice items. Feel very happy but pocket was burned with a hole now. I’ve tested the item, very bright and the wording is nice. Now my only concern is would the LED burn if it contact with water when I wash my car

Oh no, another one is leaving yet again and I am still here seeing people leaving. This time though she is not from the IT department but her work is rather IT related. Anyway her background was also IT. She’s the OA to Purchasing department who liasing closely with us IT people so that’s how I got to know her.
Basically she’s not my user however due to her role as OA and I am the administrator for some reporting services, on and off she would be requesting me to help her to create user and grant role to access those report. Since I directly involve with her, I can’t speak much about her. All I know is that she’s a nice person, very helpful and also responsible person because she put in a lot of effort in getting thing done. She should be a real patient person as well as she’s able to deal with John without much complaint lol. Anyway all the best to her.
Ops, back to daily stuff … I fetched Adrian (yeah he is in Penang again) to On-Cost yet again to get his D1 Spec Grounding Cable Kit and the Pivot MegaRAIZIN voltage stabilizer but unfortunately it was out of stock so he can’t collect it today. In another word, I will be collecting on his behalf tomorrow once the stock is available.
After that, we went to the airport to fetch Serena and Keith before heading to QBM for dinner @Kim Gary restaurant. On our way back, we saw this Adrian think it’s a nice one but I don’t think so … it’s a semi gloss and matte black Honda Civic. Anyway … still Honda!!!
Library System November 5, 2009

It’s kind of for charity since this system would be used by a charity organization, so I’ve accepted to help developing the system. It’s basically a simple spec system using rather conventional database, Microsoft Access 2007 and development tools of Visual Studio 2005.
Along the development process, though it took me about 24 hours to complete but I seriously faces several problem, surprisingly it’s not with the programming syntax instead with SQL syntax for MS Access as it’s quite different from Oracle syntax. Apart from that, the database design was not well design, I did some minor changes to it lol.
Anyway, glad that it has completed and now pending on user testing. Hopefully it would be complete as whole cycle soon.
My New Neighbour November 3, 2009

For exactly a year I’ve moved here, finally I have new neighbour moving in. For the whole last year since 1st Nov 2008, there was only a neighbour on my floor apart from two which was empty all the while. Until end of Feb 2009, it only left us alone living on this floor but … now we’ve got new neighbour.
Actually they are none other than Jane’s friend/colleague/ex-coursemate and her partner. Anyhow … it’s good to have someone living around … welcome to our neighbourhood

Sushi King is my favourite Japanese food and now their Sushi King Card Bonanza is back again. Again this time I’ll be there with the same few friends that had the last round of bonanza.
It’s only applicable for Sushi King card members for year 2009 and 2010 only and happened to be this time around, we’ve got our very own card just few weeks back. During this bonanza event, all rice-based sushi on the Kaiten Belt (the moving round thingy hehe) would be charged at RM2 only. Though we know they would serve those not really popular item, however on and off they still serve something like unagi, salmon, prawn and etc.
We had quite a number plates of sushi share among 5 of us (Myself, Jane, Jessie, Fong YJ & Tan BC). Haha, loving it instead of McD lol. Looking forward the next round of Bonanza!

Everyone wish that people remember their birthday and it’s good even to have a simple ‘makan’ with. Today is the birthday for our department youngest colleague I think, Danny. We (Myself, Tan SK, Ng YC, Chan HH, Jessie, Lee BL & Koed HK) gave him a simple treat @Pizza Huts Sunshine Bayan Lepas. Just a simple one lol
Anyway, hope you’ll have a wonderful year ahead and Happy Birthday to you.

Today is the birthday of my brother, Andrew and also Jane as well as many other stangers lol. Just like Lil, I won’t be able to celebrate with Andrew because he too live far away from where I am now. Wish ya Happy Birthday and hope all your dream will come true as well as many happy returns.
As for Jane, I bought her a cake, a Häagen-Dazs ice-cream cake from AutoCity, Juru. I called to book earlier and since cakes in QBM were quite limited, I decided to get it from AutoCity then.
It was my lucky day as they are having promotion for all their cakes that 500 grams is free for each cake purchase soI took 1.5kg Macadamia Nut Vanilla flavour. It’s just nice for Jane and her family.
It was just a simple birthday session with song singing and cake’s cutting. Jane also got her present from her dad and mum as well as her siblings. It’s simple for sure but I think she like it.
More to come at the night, Jesse and co gave her a surprise just as normally what we did for each other birthday. Probably Jane wasn’t expecting one because it’s almost over by then. She was very happy that they came and celebrate it for her. Another round of cake eating session and chit chatting took place. It was really a happy day for her

It’s nice to be in Malaysia because we celebrate many many festive occasion and even though for each Raya in the past I would be going for a lot of open house but for this year, I would only be going to one, that’s Kak Khatijah’s open house.
It’s also my first time going to her place as people told me that she’s staying in the Kedah Sultan’s castle compound, another word she’s staying in the castle. During the ‘makan’, I found out from her that they are actually just taking care of the castle therefore they are staying there. Ocassionally the Sultan of Kedah would be coming to stay there for either official or non-official related. Anyway the compound is huge and it’s facing the sea, nice environment and view.
After the open house, we went back to E-Park to pack our stuff as we will be staying over at Jane’s BM house tonight. About 5:30pm, we went to BM and then we were suppose to go to Kulim, her uncle house to celebrate Janet’s birthday.
Her mum cooked quite a lot and basically it’s not much like a party, more like a gathering where we chit chat more than we eat and play. I was more on the TV instead as I not really into the topic they were discussing. I was quite bored but luckily they called it the day by 11:00pm, earlier than what I’ve expected lol
